The Texas Rose Extravaganza is truly a weekend filled
with events and activities for rose lovers of all ages. Registrants are invited to participate in as
many events as their personal preferences dictate.
Events begin at the Holiday Inn-Intercontinental
Airport on Friday afternoon, October 24, 2003, with the Registration Station
opening at 4:00 p.m. For registrants who will be exhibiting
blooms in the rose show, blooms will be accepted for refrigerated storage
beginning at 4:00 p.m. All registrants
are invited to attend the South Central District General Business Meeting and
the "get acquainted" reception on Friday evening.
The host hotel will also be the site for Saturday's
activities which begin at dawn with the South Central District Rose Show. Registrants
are encouraged to attend the horticultural seminars presented by premier
experts in the rose industry. Early evening brings an autograph party and
reception for the speakers leading up to Dinner Among the Roses and awards. A late-night receptions winds up the evening
as everyone prepares for Sunday's events.
Trade booths will be open for registrants to visit on
Friday and Saturday.
Sunday brings breakfast in one of the City's premier
private rose gardens boasting over 400 different varieties of roses. Registrants are invited to stroll through
the gardens and enjoy selections from the continental buffet. Garden tours of several homes follow, all of
which are unique in their own right - including gardens featuring an outdoor
electric railroad, dove aviaries, turtle habitats, and waterfront vistas.
Limited bus transportation to the garden breakfast and garden tours will
be available, or registrants are invited to travel in their individual
vehicles.
